Concordia Lutheran Church will re-open to worship services in the Sanctuary on
Sunday, June 7 at 8:00am and 10:45am.
With the rows of chairs spaced at 7 feet apart, and planning on one family per row (2-4 people), our capacity is 40 people in the sanctuary and an overflow of about 8 in the Narthex, if necessary. That limits worship to 48 at each service.
Upon entering the campus, please park and enter the church through the main doors under the portico and into the narthex. We will enter the sanctuary from the rear doors and, at the end of the service, exit through the front doors near the sacristy. Doors will be locked at the start of the service and an usher will let in any latecomers.
We strongly encourage everyone to wear a mask or cloth covering. This is for your safety as well as everyone else. If you do not have a mask one will be provided for you.
Bulletins for the service will be placed on a table at the rear of the sanctuary. The rows of chairs have been set up so that we can maintain social distancing. Please sit in family groups. If sitting in a row with someone who is not in your family, please leave 3 empty seats between you. You may also sit on the sofas in the Narthex.
The reception of Holy Communion. We will commune by single rows. An Usher will direct you up for Communion, alternating sides of the sanctuary. Please strive to maintain social distancing by family group. Please do not kneel.
Pastor Vinovskis and the Elders will wear masks during the distribution. Both Pastor and Elders will sanitize their hands before serving. For reception of the host (bread), please hold out your hand, and the wafer will be placed into your hand. The individual cups will be placed in your hand as well. Then, Pastor Vinovskis will follow and fill your individual cup from the chalice. After the dismissal, deposit your cup in the receptacle at the bottom of the stairs. Elders will apply sanitizer between tables.
After everyone in the church has communed, the benediction is received and the closing hymn is sung, an Usher will dismiss attendees by row. We ask that you leave the church through the front doors by the Sacristy. The offering plates will be placed by the exit doors to receive your offering and a bin for your bulletin, if you do not wish to take it home (No worship folders will be reused.) Please do not congregate in the Narthex after worship.
We understand that many of you want to socialize and see friends face to face, having been absent far too long, however, please continue to practice social distancing and be considerate of others.
At this time there will NOT be a Fellowship Hour/Bible Class/Sunday School between the services. In-between the services, the narthex, sanctuary, and restrooms will be disinfected. We will wipe down the doors and chairs.
For those who are not ready to return to the sanctuary at this time, the 8:00am service will continue to be live-streamed on Facebook. After the service it can be watched on demand. Everyone at Concordia Lutheran understands if members prefer to stream the services rather than attend.
This Concordia Re-Open Plan has been developed for your protection and for the protection of every member of the Concordia family and all her guests. Please be considerate and loving. We understand that these are trying and uncertain times and your Elders and Pastor Vinovskis are trying to implement this as a Phase 1 practice that will make it possible to resume corporate worship together as God’s family.
We are sure there will be adjustments as time progresses. Depending on the health of our State, County and community, the plans for Phase 2 could expand in scope or become less restrictive in the weeks and months to come. Be patient. May God help us, keep us, and protect us as we move to Re-Open Concordia. Please feel free to contact your Pastor Vinovskis, or one of the Elders, if you have questions or concerns.
As you prepare to come back to worship, here are a few points to help ensure a safe and successful reopening of the church.
We greatly look forward to being able to worship together again. See you at church
• Please stay home if you are sick, experiencing symptoms of any kind, are immunocompromised, or are at greater risk of contagion for any reason.
• Please plan your attendance carefully and bring your own protection such as hand sanitizers, gloves, and masks. We are encouraging the wearing of masks.
• Sit in the designated areas only. Specific rows of chairs will be available for each service. Please do not move the furniture.
• Please use the main Front Doors to enter and the Hallway doors near the restrooms to exit. We will be propping these doors open to eliminate touch points.
This carefully managed reopening comes with stringent new health, safety and hygiene procedures in place.
Exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present; we cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during your attendance. Older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. We invite anyone in these higher risk categories to continue to enjoy the worship service streamed online. We are working hard to ensure that the experience is similar wherever you choose to worship.
In accordance with CDC guidelines we have enhanced sanitation procedures and implemented additional measures for distance spacing and screening.
For the safety of others, everyone is encouraged to wear a face covering during their visit. If you do not feel comfortable wearing a face covering, we invite you to continue the worship experience online rather than at an enclosed public venue.
Temperature checks are a good way to tell if you are ill or at risk of spreading illness to those with whom you come in contact. If you register a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater please stay home and worship with us online.
Wash hands often
Wash your hands with soap and water often for at least 20 seconds when making use of the lavatory facilities.
Use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting.
At select locations including entrances, guests will be able to use hand sanitizer.
Practice social distancing and keep at least 6 feet (2 meters) between your party and others. Seat groupings are designed to assist with social distancing.
Avoid contact with people who are sick
Please note the CDC advises that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Guests should evaluate their risk in determining whether to attend. People who show no symptoms can spread COVID-19 if they are infected, any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19, and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your attendance.
We appreciate your cooperation during this unprecedented time. Visit the CDC website for the latest guidelines.
