Confirmation and Youth Ministry

For youth from sixth grade through high school, Junior Confirmation is the opportunity to grow deeper into the teachings of our Christian faith. Classes are held during the Sunday School hour with additional classes scheduled as needed.

Confirmation at Concordia is a two-year program which begins in seventh grade. During these two years of study, our confirmands (or catechumens) learn the basics of the Christian faith as taught in Holy Scripture and Luther’s Small Catechism. Specific emphasis is given to the Old and New Testament, the Ten Commandments, the Apostle’s Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Baptism, Holy Communion, Confession and Absolution, and
what it means to be Lutheran. Confirmation
classes are offered one day a week after school and on Sunday afternoons.

Bible studies, fellowship events and service opportunities are also offered for our youth throughout the year. Concordia proudly sponsors Boy Scout Troop #431.

Youth Group

Concordia Youth Group provides an opportunity for fun, fellowship, and growth in God’s Word.  We aim to meet monthly, with a variety of activities, outings, and service projects.  The Youth Group is open to everyone 7th-12th grade.  Please join us at our next event!

We invite you to join us for Fellowship

The Fellowship Ministry builds Christ's family through social activities that strengthen family ties, nurture relationships and promotes companionship among members of the congregation. Through food, fun and activities we build sharing and caring relationships with fellow Christians. All activities are Christ-centered and oriented toward Christian values.

Each week we gather for refreshments and fellowship following the early worship service and before the Sunday School hour.

Concordia offers a wide variety of activities and events to socialize with other Christian members throughout the year. All activities are meant to build our church community and to give honor and glory to God. Check the church calendar for dates and times.

Music at Concordia

If theology is the lifeblood of the church, then certainly the music at Concordia would be its heartbeat. Our hymns, chants, liturgy and and anthems take the message of Jesus to the listening ear and remind us again that God loves us in Jesus, and He is on our side.

For the last 25 years, Concordia has been blessed with willing volunteers to lead and participate in our music ministry.  You may reach us to find out more about a particular musical group, under contact us,  click on STAFF, you will see our contact information on the bottom of the page to ask a question, or express an interest in joining us. We look forward to hearing from you!

Concordia Senior  Choir

Started as a VERY volunteer organization in the early 1990's, Concordia's Senior Choir is open to anyone of any musical ability 7th Grade or older.  The choir rehearses at 7pm Wednesday evenings from mid-August through mid-June, and sings almost every Sunday at both services.  During the Lent and Advent seasons, the choir rehearses after the Vesper services for about an hour and a half.

Due to the volunteer nature of both the choir and, until recently, the classification of the church, robes are not worn.  Participants are welcome to sit with their families until it is time to sing.  While the choir does sing at both services, the placement of the choir in the 10:45 service is usually arranged so that the choir may leave before the sermon.  Additionally, not all choir members choose to sing at every service. It is OK to sing at only one service or the other, as your schedule allows.  There will be a few times during the year, especially during Festival services such as Reformation, Christmas Eve, Transfiguration, Palm Sunday and Easter where the choir is asked to stay for the duration of both services.

No musical training is required to sing with the Senior Choir.  All we ask is that you like to sing, we will teach you everything you need to know, so you can praise God with us!

Instrumental  Music  at  Concordia

Concordia has many opportunities for those who play musical instruments. Talk to the Music Director if you are interested in playing a Prelude, Postlude, Offertory, or hymn accompaniment at one of our worship services. Concordia does not use a praise band format for the Divine Liturgy, but solos and small groups are welcome. Our in-house brass group plays for Easter and Reformation, and guitarists and woodwinds play frequently throughout the year.  Those with piano skills are also welcome to contribute musically to the service and speak with the Organist to arrange a time to play.
